busy? some how i find myself constantly moving, even when i am still, (maybe i have a disorder not confirmed though) so here is some stuff from one of my note books that i am running through. Feb 10 computers class (these things are amazing and evil at the same time i wish i had more knowledge of operation of all the different programs) Hort Club Felder Rushing came to speak to us, his main message was to be different, by using both sides of your brain... his definition of "a weed- Any plant dealing with an unhappy human."
Deconstructionism
A term tied very closely to postmodernism, deconstructionism is a challenge to the attempt to establish any ultimate or secure meaning in a text. Basing itself in language analysis, it seeks to "deconstruct" the ideological biases (gender, racial, economic, political, cultural) and traditional assumptions that infect all histories, as well as philosophical and religious "truths." Deconstructionism is based on the premise that much of human history, in trying to understand, and then define, reality has led to various forms of domination - of nature, of people of color, of the poor, of homosexuals, etc. Like postmodernism, deconstructionism finds concrete experience more valid than abstract ideas and, therefore, refutes any attempts to produce a history, or a truth. In other words, the multiplicities and contingencies of human experience necessarily bring knowledge down to the local and specific level, and challenge the tendency to centralize power through the claims of an ultimate truth which must be accepted or obeyed by all.
Example by Felder: Line, Filler, Mass= Spikey, Roundey, Frilley.
You Don't Have To Be Like Everyone Else
80% of the world lives within 5 kilometers of their food sources.... wow not here in the US though... Why Not???
2 rules for composting: 1quit throwing that stuff away! 2pile it up somewhere!!!
"Be the change you want to see in the World!!!!!!!" Gandhi...
After felder i went to accounting class and learned about using T accounts. ugh...
then i went to Mississippi's best grassroots arts/music event in Lee Hall. it was excellent free art and music with Paul Thorn, Nash Street, Kent Burnside, Eden Brent, and others...
on Feb 11 at the ASLA meeting Roger Baker and Rob Rice, the campus planner and head of campus landscape respectively spoke with us and their main point that i took away was unless they get money specifically for sustainable projects they are not really pushing the into action. they do compost amazingly. they said the budget ran about 4cents per sq. foot. and that includes athletics... they eagerly answered questions, but unless they get more funding the projects that should happen will not happen.
well i have to go work with the arbor culture team to train for the student career days and work on my flow through planters as well..
my mind is also designing landscapes for my yard, the Spears', my parents, as well as trying to get a pedicab company started in starkville, also working to get things together for Starkville in Motion, and Earth Day celebrations, plus The AT my start date is tentatively set for meeting Pinion on MAY 13 somewhere near Harper's Ferry...
Grace and Peace to all!!!

Just another dog on the roadside
poor thing probably never saw it coming
so while on the subject of dogs it would seem that the Bulldog staff responsible for removing certain unwanted items are not the most environmentally friendly bunch. here is a stack of crating materials I salvaged from North farm, while on south farm things seem to be a little more on the trashy side.
These pallets are made of 2x4s and 2x6s not your typical pallets. I know they will find a use at my house, the dreams are coming as I type.... So on South Farm...
Here in the far corner of the south farm about 30 yards from a stream is a large debris pile the gets burned on a regular ocassion and maintained by a bulldozer. objects found include: potted plants from the PSS dept I assume, Empty oil and antifreeze containers, a refrigerator, tires, Compostable items like sawdust, pruned hollies, nandinas, eleagnus, jasmine, crepemyrtle, oak limbs and the list could continue...
this picture is a stream that has amazing beauty yet people seem to find a way to leave their mark...
Quotable Merle.. or not so quotable...
Over the barking of Sammy and Samantha, Merle's roadside hound-dogs, Merle yells... "Check out my New Toy!" Then he snaps a couple of shots of me as I stand in amazement. " Talk about spy camera, and it was only 600 bucks!!" he then explains why he got it for his daughter to use for photography class. Next he brought it over to let me check it out to "really see what this baby can do!!"
This was the most recent event from Merle but he often has something very inspiring to say to when I see him in the yard or driveway. So here are a couple from the past.. for kicks..
On one morning this January when it got down into the teens Merle yells "I wanna see Al Gore and ask him where is this global warming crap!!" the next day we had sunny weather in the 60's... as I hear more or remember the good ones that have past I will post more. I must say this is not to make fun of Merle but to enjoy the good times/laughs as they come.. Grace and Peace.
