Verde-Mont The MOUNTAINS of GREEN

Vermont was a beautiful state to trek through. I started the state with a new pair of shoes
Sallie started with a new respect for wildlife, at least of the prickly type.
rivers here have been so nice to walk along sending me day dreaming as we pass awesome rapids and wonderful pools. There have only been a few days that we did not go swimming, or at least wading, they were the days when we were walking in the rain!! Sallie and I have summitted our tallest peaks yet but with larger ones still to come when we get into the white mountains of New Hampshire. Today we officially crossed into NH!! Yeah!! On Sunday the 28 of June we hiked down to the White River @West Hartford VT just in time to see 2 Kayakers jumping off the bridge!! they did it multiple times and it wasn't long before my buddy Tekla and I found ourselves doing the same, The White river is supposedly one of the cleanest around and it was nice and chilly! We called my cousins (through Isabel) the Peterson's who live in Lebanon NH and we were picked up from the river by the eldest son Trevor. He took us to their home where aunt Deb and uncle Steve had prepared a wonderful spread for lunch, washed our clothes, allowed us to shower, sleep in beds and wear Trevor's cotton clothes. For the morning they fed us well and drove us to pick up mail in Hanover then back to the trail to slack pack back to town for another wonderful meal, shower, sleep in their home!! We are very grateful for their hospitality and generosity!! I hope one day we maybe able to return the favor! tomorrow we will eat breakfast and get started back heading North. We have a tentative schedule to be on-top of Mt. Kathidin in one Month on July 29, which only requires us to average 15 miles a day. The trail has been ever amazing, every step a new vantage point and every step is one closer to the goal, the journey seems to be the destination, most days we pass through numerous places that out-do most post cards you can buy. Peace Love and Happiness to All!
