The Appalachian Trail Conservancy @ Harpers Ferry WV

Here we are in West Virginia resting after a quick week out of southern PA thru MD and in no time out of WV into the long state of VA. Today is out 91st day since we began this journey! Every step changes your perspective on everything around you! Every step takes you farther away and at the same time closer. Do you count days or miles up, down, gone by, or to come? Walking the long brown path makes you aware of things on different scales.
While in Maine we enjoyed daytime highs of 75 where as here it will be 94 this past week has been an adjustment and another small mountain to climb over but after bathing in the tepid Potomac yesterday I feel like I am adjusted, however Sallie says she might still want to get a haircut to aid in her adjustment!
August 6th was my last day of hiking in Maine finishing the first 30 miles of the 100 mile wilderness that I Skipped over to spend more time with Isabel!!! Sallie and I ate AYCE (all you can eat) tacos @ The Lakeshore House in Monson ME, slept a great night then AYCE breakfast @Shaw's boarding house, jumped in the car for a shuttle to Bangor ME @830am rented a car and started driving south @ 330PM we picked up Mere in Boston, stopped for diner in Farefield CT, talked to our sister Bethany as we drove through the Bronx and Manhattan watching the moon come up over the city and @1230 AM we were parking in Duncannon PA. 16 hours in a car to cover what I took 77 days to hike!!! what an Adventure!!!
Well Southbound we go!!! Peace, Love, Happy Hiking!!!
We will be covering MILES sharing the SMILES!!!

  2. Poncho! Threshold here, still enjoying my long break after my summit of Mt. K on the 6th. I'm going to be back on the trail before the end of August, starting just south of the Shenandoah Nation Park. I hope I run into you and Sally - it would be great to see some familiar faces. Glad to hear you and Miss Sally are doing well :) Primitive and I send our best.
